Are You Relying Solely on Painkillers to Solve Your Back Problem?

When your joints are in pain, the natural and obvious solution is to take some painkillers to relieve the pain to just help you get through the day. But the mistake people make is to assume that when that pain is gone, their problem is solved.

Meaning they can go play golf or work around the house or empty the dishwasher when they are pain free and that is where they end up hurting themselves even more.

Most people go wrong in that they assume that just because they do not have the pain anymore, they are all better and their problem is fixed. They do not realize that pain is just a symptom of the problem and they haven’t done anything yet to address the underlying problem that caused the pain to arise as a result.

Pain-killers may provide you with temporary relief but they will not do much for your joints to stay healthy in the long run and most importantly keep you functional and moving. Instead they may even come loaded with a ton of side-effects that you may or may not be aware of.

What most people fail to look at is the long term solution to their aching back, sciatica or knee pain which is getting their joints moving the right way first with the help of their physical therapist and then building on some strength and function to keep their joints viable.

Of course the latter is a long term process and requires some commitment and discipline but isn’t it worth it to keep you moving pain-free and helping you avoid unnecessary injections and surgery.

So choose your treatment options wisely and advocate for your health and your ability to stay as active as possible in your golden years by working with the right movement expert.

In our clinic, we are actively working with our patients to make sure that they address the root cause of their problem versus just masking the symptoms of pain.

Transitioning them to a solid strength training program as soon as their pain and other symptoms are resolved so they can enjoy a pain-free and active life doing things they love like traveling and spending time with their loved ones. After all, that’s what it's all about, isn’t it?
